花旗集團大虧 / Citigroup Reports Big Loss and a Breakup Plan
January 17th, 2009 Phanix- 花旗集團第四季共虧損 USD $8.29 billion(比預期來得多)，這是連續五季虧損，同時2008年度共虧損 USD $18.72。(Citigroup capped a devastating 2008 by announcing with an $8.29 billion fourth-quarter loss on Friday. … The company has reported a loss for five consecutive quarters. … For the full year 2008, Citigroup reported a net loss of $18.72 billion. …)
- 造成虧損的原因之一是提列了 USD $25.2 billion 的呆帳，使得這一段期間以來（近一年）所提列的總呆帳金額達到 USD $90 billion。(… a staggering $25.2 billion in write-offs and losses in both its consumer and investment bank for the latest period brought its total charges to $90 billion. …)
- 花旗集團財務長表示將計畫開始裁員，並在 2010 年初達到裁員的最高峰。同時抵押貸款的虧損已經快跟 1990 年代初期相近，置於信用卡造成的虧損則早就超過當時的情況。(Gary L. Crittenden, Citigroup’s chief financial officer, said the bank was projecting job losses to peak in early 2010 and would probably have to add set aside money to cover losses all year. He said that mortgage losses were approaching the peak levels of the recession in the early 1990s and that credit card losses had already surpassed them.)
