Banfi Brunello di Montalcino Poggio all’Oro Reserva 1999

Medium+ garnet.

Medium nose. White flower bouquet, herbs and creamy are predominated at the beginning, I immediately relate this to high quality soap (the 1st brand flashes in my mind is L’OCCITANE). Some black berry, light wood, tobacco, chocolate, caramel, incense, and a hint of greenpepper. After more breathing, shows violet bouquet.

Medium body. The tannin is medium but still has some aging potential. Black berry, cinnamon, licorice, mushroom, smoky, dark chocolate flavor. Medium acidity with light tangerine note. Lingering. Peak. Thirsty for this, make me want to lick over the tulip.

Banfi Brunello di Montalcino Poggio all’Oro Reserva 2004

Medium garnet.

Dust, black pepper, spicy mint (relate to 撒隆巴斯), dark berry fruits, green pepper note, vanilla, and old wood. The nose is not as dense as 99′.

Palate is consistent to the nose, impressive. However, the high acidity is a bit sharp, not perfectly balanced with the high tannin and the palate.

Personally think the aging potential of 04′ vintage is a bit less than the 99′ vintage.

TENUTA SAN GUIDO Sassicaia 2006

Medium+ garnet. sediments.

Black cherry, hazelnut, bouquet of rose petals, burned wood and chocolate.

Palate contains leather, black berry, wood, light green pepper note, cinnamon, and cocoa. Rich tannin, still young and powerful. Medium+ acidity.

Good, but not so touching as the 1st wine from Banfi, probably due to the special nose.

TENUTA SAN GUIDO Sassicaia 2007

Medium+ garnet. sediments.

Black berry, chocolate, wood, incense, bouquet perfume. Vanilla after 1 hr breathing.

Medium-high acidity. Tannin is young. Light chocolate, light leather, black berry, burned wood. Tangerine and licorice note at the end.

Personally consider that 07 vintage is better than 06 now, but 06 has better aging potential.

TENUTA SAN GUIDO Guidalberto 2007

Medium+ garnet.

Medium+ nose, a bit stronger than 08′. Black berry, grass, herb, green onion. hazelnut. a hint of bouquet. 07′ vintage shows more barrel-contributed nose, and 08′ vintage shows more soil and chocolate flavors.

Similar palate to 08′. With more ripe berry and spice note.

TENUTA SAN GUIDO Guidalberto 2008

Medium+ garnet.

Medium+ nose. Black berry jam, smoky, dust and sand, vanilla, and a bit chocolate. Black pepper spicy nose and floral perfume.

Wooden flavor in the palate. Black berry. grass and soil. High acidity and lingering. (The palate is not so dense as my expectation)
