Local Wine Tasting — IV

Well, that's a few weeks ago. The reason I postpone this tasting note is I am not very surprised by the wines in this tasting. Anyway, I think I should wrote done something, so I do it now.

The wine list are Gatos Locos Chardonnay 2007, Sonnet Amber Ridge Pinot Noir 2005, Black Ridge Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 2005, Michael Martella Hammer Syrah 2006, Ridge Vineyards Zinfandel York Creek 2006.

Gatos Locos Chardonnay 2007

Aromas of apple and common citrus, a little acid and mineral taste. However, I had Mount Eden Estate Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay 2005 in those days, so I am not surprised by this Chardonnay from Gatos Locos.

Sonnet Amber Ridge Pinot Noir 2005

Good Pinot Noir with cherry fruits bouquets. However, I am the type preferring Cabernet Sauvignon, maybe I should learn to admire Pinot Noir...

Black Ridge Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

Classic blackcurrant. Dense taste and tannins.

Michael Martella Hammer Syrah 2006

Light blackcurrant and cherry. Rich and long finish.

Ridge Vineyards Zinfandel York Creek 2006

This wine gets 93 in W&S rating and 90 in ST rating, and I agree this wine is the best one in this tasting. Complex aromas include pepper and coffee. Tannins is still a little harsh, I think that will be better after a few years. However, the pepper and  berry fruits taste is good with the balanced spicy.
