Down to Earth, the theme of Wall-E

I *REALLY* love this theme and this movie!!!

Let's listen to the theme first!

[[Down to Earth]]

Did you think that your feet had been bound
By what gravity brings to the ground?
Did you feel you were tricked
By the future you picked?
Well, come on down

All these rules don't apply
When you're high in the sky
So come on down
Come on down

We're coming down to the ground
There's no better place to go
We've got snow up on the mountains
We've got rivers down below

We're coming down to the ground
To hear the birds sing in the trees
And the land will be looked after
We send the seeds out in the breeze

Did you think you'd escaped from routine
By changing the script and the scene?
Despite all you made of it
You're always afraid of the change

You've got a lot on your chest
Well, you can come as my guest
So come on down
Come on down

We're coming down to the ground
There's no better place to go
We've got snow up on the mountains
We've got rivers down below

We're coming down to the ground
We'll hear the birds sing in the trees
And the land will be looked after
We send the seeds out in the breeze

Like the fish in the ocean
We felt at home in the sea
We learned to live off the good land
We learned to climb up a tree

Then we got up on two legs
But we wanted to fly
Oh, when we messed up our homeland
And set sail for the sky

We're coming down to the ground
There's no better place to go
We've got snow upon the mountains
We got rivers down below

We're coming down to the ground
We'll hear the birds sing in the trees
And the land will be looked after
We send the seeds out in the breeze

We're coming down
Comin' down to earth
Like babies at birth
Comin' down to earth
Redefine your priorities
These are extraordinary qualities

We're coming down to the ground
There's no better place to go
We've got snow upon the mountains
We've got rivers down below

We're coming down to the ground
We'll hear the birds sing in the trees
And the land will be looked after
We send the seeds out in the breeze

We're coming down to the ground
There's no better place to go
We've got snow upon the mountains
We've got rivers down below

We're coming down to the ground
We'll hear the birds sing in the trees
And the land will be looked after
We send the seeds out in the breeze

Redefine your priorities
These are extraordinary qualities
To find on earth

Wall-E is a animation movie describes a romance of a "nobody" robot and the other "somebody" robot, and the story is the typical romance of Charlie Chaplin's style. So, we can say the director wants to show the respect of Charlie Chaplin in some aspects. Even though, this animation is a great work -- the animation is smooth, the team pay attention of all details of scenes, the story is easy for all age audience, and the background of the story is meaningful. Maybe that's why it got 8.7 out of 10 on IMDB.

At the beginning of this movie, I was shocked by the TRASH, unbounded TRASH!!! I really think human beings produce too much un-recyclable trash, especially the American (from my experience of these days in US). The trash may be zipped and be buried in somewhere, but it would take a lot of time (maybe NEVER) to be decomposed.

Another shock is came from the scene in the trash area of Axiom, the spacecraft, human beings still produce a lot of trash, and dump into the space.

That also makes me think of the over-packaging problem in US, in Japan, in Taiwan, and in other countries. The Xmas gift set is packed with plastic materials, ribbons, and lots of paper. The desserts are placed in a paper box, and then put inside a plastic box with some decorations. The plastic bags can be got easily in a retail store. The styrofoam dishes, bows and boxes used in a restaurant.

Now, another thing just flashed in my mind. One day, I went to a retail store to buy two bottle of milk. After my payment, the register staff gave me 4 plastic bags without asking...
