There are no regulations which define the so-called "old vine" all over the world. The only criterion might be the bunch count of a vine. In usually, the vine can only grow less grapes, maybe 1/2 ~ 1/3, when it's OLD, compare to the amount when it's young. Old vines usually means the smaller berries, less bunches, larger portion of skin, more tannin and more flavors and aromas.

Achaval Ferrer Finca Altamira 2007 V.V.

More floral than Trapiche, and also the fruitiness. Floral, sugarcane, meat, light eucalyptus, light black pepper, oak wood, black currant.

Too early to drink this wine. High tannin, black berry and floral with medium-high acidity. Flavors are not yet fully developed.

Trapiche Single Vineyard 2007 Vina Adolfo Ahumada

Similar to the tasting experience last week. Very creamy. Butter, coffer, caramel macchiato, black berry jam, sugarcane, dust, vanilla, cinnamon.

Licorice, cocoa powder and black berry in the palate with high tannin.

Domaine Chante Cigale Chateauneuf du Pape 2006 V.V.

Medium+ ruby garnet. The nose is not so strong as 07, but more complex and elegant. Floral honey, leather, black pepper, light black berry, roasted nuts, boiled peanut (想到粽子), strawberry jam.

Palate has licorice, black berry, leather, light fruity, light floral, sucrose. Seaweed note at the lingering end. Medium acidity and medium-high tannin.

Domaine Chante Cigale Chateauneuf du Pape 2007

Medium+ garnet ruby. Elder style than 06 V.V. Gravel, pickled plum, beneath light bouquet, black cherry, soy sauce (有點像肉鬆味道), spices, chili pepper, black pepper, animal fur, walnut.

Palate has a bit bitterness at end. Green pepper, black berry, licorice, clove and cinnamon.

Kaesler Barossa Valley Shiraz 2008 V.V. The Bogan

Much denser fruity than Stonehorse. Black berry jam, white pepper, cream, green pepper hint, bean paste, chocolate, vanilla hint, caramel, sugarcane.

Blue berry, black berry and chocolate paste in the palate.

Fruity. Strawberry jam, fresh grass, soil, hazelnut, floral, chocolate paste.

Palate has black berry, chocolate and caramel.

Lignier Michelot Morey-St.-Denis 2006 V.V.

Medium ruby garnet. Leather, soil, black cherry, light cream, eucalyptus. More leather nose than 06, and denser fruity.

Palate is consistent to the nose, with medium-high acidity.

Arlaud Morey-St.-Denis 2008

Medium- ruby. Strawberry, raspberry, new leather purse, mint, wood, dry soil and fresh grass, light black pepper. Fresh and fruity, but not as dense as 06 V.V.

Strawberry, leather and light wood in the palate, with medium+ acidity.
