Attilio Ghisolfi Barolo Riserva DOCG Bussia Bricco Visette 2008

Medium garnet color. Medium+ nose with leather, tar, balsamic vinegar, straw, dry grass, dry herbs, gravel note, old cask, and black berry note.
The palate is high in acidity and tannin. Medium body, Lingering length with licorice note at the end.

Giuseppe Cortese Barbaresco Rabaja 2010

Medium nose, with raspberry, flower petal, black pepper, eucalyptus leaves note, light fur and tar, and notes of oak aging process (cream, vanilla, and oak).
High in tannin and acidity, but not as high as the Barolo. Compare to the Attilio Ghisolfi Barolo, this Giuseppe Cortese Barbaresco is less strong, but more elegant.

Antoniolo Gattinara DOCG 2008

[/ezcol_1half] [ezcol_1half_end] Gattinara DOCG (DOC in 1967; DOCG in 1990) is located in Piedmont, about 80 km north of Asti, belongs to Alto-Piedmont. Nebbiolo is called "Spanna" in Gattinara. For Gattinara DOCG, wines need at least 2 yrs aging in bottle, and at least 1 and 2 yrs aging in barrel (Gattinara DOCG and Gattinara Riserva DOCG, respectively).

Medium+ garnet, with ruby rim. Smoke, tar, black cherry, gravel note, oak, cream, and a bit of soapsuds.

Le Piane Boca DOC 2008

[/ezcol_1half] [ezcol_1half_end] Boca DOC is in Alto Piedmont. boca DOC allows 70%~90% Nebbiolo, with 10%~30% Bonarda.
Medium+ garnet with ruby rim. Black cherry, black berry, grass, caramel note, flower, oak, hazelnut, and cream. Very fruity and charming wine (I think Bonarda contributes the rich fruity flavor). Many oak process. High tannin (quite velvet), high in acidity.

Luigi Ferrando Nebbiolo di Carema Etichetta Bianca 2006 Canavese DOC

[/ezcol_1half] [ezcol_1half_end] Medium garnet color with amber rim. Stony, steel, tar (very distinct), grass, caramel, clove, licorice, dry herbs. Quite a stony and herbal nebbiolo.
A bit alc. mouthfeel. spice bitterness at end.

High in tannin and acidity. The body and structure is a bit lighter than others.
